Victoria Palacio-Angel
Victoria is originally from Colombia, South America, but she arrived in the US in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology. In 1990, she began her teaching career as a Nursery/Teacher Supervisor for infants and toddlers in Brooklyn, New York. In 1996, she obtained her U.S. citizenship and graduated from Baruch College with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management and with a minor in Education. Victoria also holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design from the American International University (AIU), which she earned in 2006.
Victoria has been teaching Spanish for sixteen years. She has taught Spanish at several parochial and private schools in New York City and at a number of language centers. In 1999, Victoria founded Progressive Language Institute PLI located in Teaneck, New Jersey. She developed the Spanish curriculum for her adult and young students. She conducts numerous Spanish language training programs, including classes for professional development, children’s programs for parents and their infants and toddlers, and classes for preschool and school age students up to the age of 18.
Alberto provides the technical support and business foundation for the institute. His 18 years of experience between the Division of Youth and Family Services and the Paterson school system with a large Spanish-speaking population and Alberto’s social work background have given him in-depth knowledge about the Spanish culture and how to run this school.
In addition to their love for the Spanish culture and language, Victoria, Alberto, and their eight year old daughter Camila are passionate musicians, who often are incorporating their own Spanish compositions to teach the language. |
